1) Before my shill, I'll doxx myself for this post so you know I'm not camped out in a mud hut outside Mumbai. Luckily, I have quite possibly the greatest meme alpha source in the world as a friend. 2) So, about this friend. Let's call him "John". He's a day-1 Shib OG who autistically held and was part of the entire Shib journey. Turned $1500 into $60m+ at ATH and realised a lot of it. I unfortunately hadn't met him at that point, but was fortunate enough to meet him through another friend afterwards. They mostly work, they generally accomplish our goals, but their power has definitely been abused in the past. Those abuses in part were a big motivation for the creation of Bitcoin in the first place, which took Satoshi years of effort in secret. Forgive the longer answer but I think there's more to this question - A lot of people misunderstand how systems work and this leads them to make errant assumptions and draw conclusions from them. Even if the first point above weren't true, we still couldn't use a certificate authority type approach to solve what Blockchains can solve. Certificate authorities fundamentally don't **verify** anything. Some of them do, but many of them don't because in some situations, people and even small businesses in third world countries can't pass identity verifications because the country doesn't have a strong recordkeeping infrastructure that the CA's would need, which would lock many people from these countries out of hosting internet sites entirely or growing their legitimate business, reaching customers in developed countries, etc. What certificate authorities do is provide a chain-of-custody for SSL keys between organizations and end-users who haven't ever heard of eachother and may never interact, which allows them to communicate with public key encryption. The data involved is small, the updates are infrequent, and specific resolutions for a specific site/key can happen on-demand with verifiability due to the root certificates. There are very few conflicts that the central authorities need to arbitrate over. Thus the costs of operating a CA are low and the fees can be low. If we took the two closest examples - supply chain management and real estate recordkeeping - these properties break down immediately. The volume of data for SCM would be much larger, though still theoretically within what a blockchain could maintain. Fraud would definitely be a problem, and the CA's would be forced to do substantial verification to avoid end users accidentally trusting records that were never valid to begin with. These substantial operating costs would very quickly price out many producers in third world countries, the very people I'm suggesting we could include. In terms of real estate recordkeeping the datasize is smaller and updates less frequent, but the conflict and verifications become much much more difficult because there's real money available if exploited, real conflict between neighbors, courts, borders, and boundaries all involved. A blockchain would still perform this function better, so long as the controlling keys for each city/state/nation/region were correctly distributed (aka following the lines on maps). Each individual entity could authoritatively control their "piece" of the "map" (database), and anyone could read the public data and display it because it all follows the same rules & data structure (unlike what is done today). Is it going to happen the way I envision? Probably not, if I knew the future I'd already be rich. But it is a good application for Blockchains, and it would be freaking cool.

There are crypto tax calculators here that would help you make the process easier. You can even talk to a CA if you want. Serious question though - Why would you want to move from Germany to India? What is it that you're getting here that you aren't in your country?

Understood. What’s the spread like for automatic buys? How often are you transferring off exchanges? I think the only issue with set it and forget it is forgetting how much Bitcoin you have on exchange. If you’re using CA you can only withdraw out 2k daily and 5k weekly. I don’t know how much BTC your exchange has but I wouldn’t want my large Bitcoin stack stuck on exchanges when the short squeeze starts. I forsee exchanges limiting withdrawals. I survived Celsius by withdrawing 2 weeks before they stopped withdrawals so I’m weary of leaving large Bitcoin stacks on exchanges.

What I like about BCH is that I never have to sell. If I think the market is going down I just hedge direcly from my wallet using anyhedge smart contracts. SO I never have to trust an exchange, so the risk of my coins getting stolen is very low. (using a trezor T1). And then I can just spend my BCH instead of selling it, because fees are always around 1 cent! I can even use anyhedge to lock BCH in a smart contract and bet that BTC will keep going up, which still gives me access to the store of value narrative. Which has been very succesfull. So if BTC g oes up, my CA ends up with more BCH in it. It's the best of both worlds honestly. With LN, it's extremely complicated to run your own node. the subs like r/lightningnetwork are full of people complaining about this. The solution .... use a custodial wallet where you have to trust somebody else. But the whole idea of Bitcoin was to never have to trust anybody else but yourself. And so for me it's just BCH and nothing else. Call me a "Satoshi's idea Maximalist" or something. Cause if you are gonna trust somebody else with your sats, you might as well just use paypal ...

You need to talk to a tax guy / gal. If you have loss carry forward they will offset any realized (stuff sold) gains to the extent of the carry forward loss. This is assuming the loss carry forward was a realized loss (you actually sold your positions for a loss). If you HODL last year and sell this year, then there was no realized loss in the prior year and nothing to carry forward. States follow fed for gains and losses, typically the only difference is in the rate of tax. CA is more complicated in comparison to many other states.

It doesn't even matter. Look at pot legalization. Here in CA I've got a buddy has a farm. Been doing it for 20yrs. It becomes legal and suddenly he's complaining about taxes and regulations and shit like that when in the past he literally had guys in helicopters drop to his fields and burn his crops. Now, he's annoyed, but actually got a mortgage for his house, got healthcare for his kids. The industry took off and now there are pot shops and more local jobs and little manufacturing places for 10000 kinds of gummies and packagin, etc.. I can pick up some mints to help me sleep that don't mess with my gut, and there are 3 shops walking distance from my house. Crypto is like a that. My mom was sure the world would end and civil society would unravel, but it just made the economy stronger. Now.... It's not ever going away. Get crypto so integrated into the tax structure and economy, in any fucked up way possible, and it will win. I want crypto as the backend controlling atms and credit card machines. I want it to be as ubiquitous as cash. But it will never get there until it is brought into the legislation and tax code. That makes it a real thing to unbelievers. It makes it legit, and not a ponzi scam. But.... If it is pushed by someone millions upon millions of people believe is nothing but a grifter.... That will set back cryptocurrency for a generation.

And yes, perhaps in some countries (I doubt UK, but who knows), maybe at some point in the future, someone changes the law and it will be more like it should be. But currently, it's not. These things take years, if not decades. Politicians are useless slow parasites and I would not put any hope into any one of them. Maybe, just maybe, in Argentina or El Salvador, maybe. Many of you will remember Hokkaidu Inu ($HOKK) on ETH from the previous cycle as it was a dog coin giant back then and reached an ATH of 826m MC. Hokkaidu Inu has a great story, somewhat infamous at times, once actually higher than Shiba this coin was well loved with 67k holders to this day. Fast forward to 2024 and as the V1 HOKK memecoin contract is renounced and liquidity burnt with now fair distribution the community have reformed to bring Hokkaidu Inu $HOKK back for former glory. They have some good ideas on promoting this roadmap and plans incldue turning the entire history of Hokkaidu Inu into a visually narrated series of comics full of memes, symbolism and fables to turn HOKK not as a token, but as a character, a mascot into a relatable character, future NFTs based on the lore, merch, guerilla marketing and the community would love to make an animation movie about it one day. Also ideally for Vitalik to buy HOKK back and apologize to everyone involved.
